2024 Summer Intern Spotlight

Farm Bureau Bank offers a summer internship program to provide hands-on learning opportunities to college students seeking exposure to the banking industry.

“Our internship programs allow interns to experience various aspects of banking, expand their transferrable skills, and begin to build and develop professional relationships. Our interns participate in project planning and implementation, allowing them to stretch their skills beyond day-to-day operations and affect real change at the department and organizational levels,” said Janie Casas, GVP Chief People Officer. “We’re proud to invest in the future of banking through workforce development.”

This summer, Farm Bureau Bank welcomed student intern Will Glover to our San Antonio, Texas office.

Meet Will Glover, Farm Bureau Bank’s Analysis Department summer intern. Will is from San Antonio, Texas and is a senior at Abilene Christian University studying Business Administration, Finance and Management. At ACU, Will serves as a Business School Ambassador, is on the Dean’s List, and works as a Trading and Research Analyst.

We interviewed Will about his intern experience at Farm Bureau Bank.

How has this internship experience been for you?

Everyone that I have interacted with has been so pleasant to talk to and learn from. I have gotten to learn more about how the analysis department works at a bank and have learned more about what I wish to do in my future as well.

Tell us about what you learned and what projects you’re proud of.

I had the privilege to learn how to use SAS and sharpen my skills in Excel. I believe that these two skills are crucial for success in the finance field as I begin my career.
I am proud of helping my supervisor, Kayla Hudson with multiple projects that helped identify income streams, profitability, and charged interest form different accounts.

What were your favorite parts and how will you bring your experience forward into your life and career?

My favorite part about interning had to have been Team Week. I really enjoyed being with everyone in the office and talking to different people across the company. Team Week made me feel like Farm Bureau Bank was more than a bank – it made me feel like I was a part of a family.
The biggest thing I learned about this internship is how Farm Bureau Bank treats their employees. They treat them with respect and value, and I believe that that is the most important part of any job for any manager. If the employees are happy, the company will thrive no matter the external situation. I believe that my experience over the last two months shows how willing Farm Bureau Bank is to help their employees grow and advance in the company and beyond.
